Yesterday, we got the remnants of Katrina. It rained all day and part of the morning today. Then the skies cleared and the remainder of the sunny and cool.
The bad news is that Tom and I walked down to our basement and several of the rooms were flooded! What a mess! We had to clear out the rooms, pull up the carpet and padding, and suck up all the water. Easier said then done. Do you know that carpet weighs three times as much when saturated with water? We decided to open the window and shove the soggy carpet/ padding out. That's when it happened! Tom (barefoot) stepped on a rusty tack along the wall. You see his last tetanus shot was in 1982, so we had to stop and go to the Urgent Care facility. Wow, what a night I am thankful that Tom was home when we made this little discovery... just not about the flooding or the rusty nail.
